Since this school year, I’m back to square one, I’m changing my title design. So long, mustache! New year, new school, new friends, new life, new blog! :)

Yesterday was the Frosh Orientation, which is now known as Interaktiv 2013. They kicked the day off with gathering us all by our courses and when they finally led us into the campus, all the upperclassmen were there shouting “WELCOME FROSH! WELCOME FROSH!”, boosting our confidence level. Trust me, we needed it. I could see everyone’s nervous-but-excited faces as they were lining up to register. Upon the registration, they gave us lanyards, name tags and this BXO (I have no idea what that meant) whistle. I don’t really know what the whistle was for (FROSH IGNORANCE LEVEL: ME) since we never really used it yesterday but one thing I do know is that they held Day of Whistles for Advocacy last May 10.

LET INTERAKTIV 2013 BEGIN!

After registering, they formed us into groups and gave us a mini tour, told us a bit of history and the achievements their students got for the past years. After that they led us to their auditorium which kind of reminded me of STC. We were seated by course, but different blocks. I sat there silently as I was looking for Janica, the one I met during enrollment. When I finally found her, I stood up and sat beside her other new found friends. We started talking, laughing and exchanging schedules, when this guy sat beside me. REMEMBER HIM, GUYS. He’s very important in this post. I probably shouldn’t say his REAL name but let’s call him Mark. So Mark sat beside me and damn right he’s cute (and he smells good! <3). After the loooong and awkward silence between the both of us, he finally stared right at me and talked to me. I was really blown out of the water when he asked me if this was where the Fashion Design students were seated cause he’s taking up FDM, too. He’s actually the first ever straight guy in the FDM section. He shook out his seriously cold but soft hand and grabbed mine as we introduced each other. He told me how he didn’t know how to talk to me because he actually thought I was a foreigner (NUMBER 1) and that he was shocked to actually hear me talk in Filipino. Then awkward silence. “Seriously? Are you sure you’re not American? Kasi hind ako makapaniwala” and we both laughed and I was like “Yes, I’m sure.” then he was like “Sure?” He asked again with a smirk on his face. “YES, SURE NA SURE.” “Sure??” Again, he asked, laughing. “Hahahaha! Yess!” I found that moment really cute. <3 My friends were teasing me and I feel my face turning red!

Moving on! They started the orientation in the audi with a prayer and then the National Anthem with a girl FSL-ing the anthem. It was pretty cool! It was like watching SAB live, but Filipino version. It reminded me of my friends in Cebu, how sometimes we ASL (Not FSL) our secrets, chikas and etc. It was heartbreaking, I miss them. So anyway. After that the emcees came in and showed us a video of the Student Life in Benilde and another video for the history of the school and another one for the hearing impaired. It was a simple but striking video of a girl FLS-ing the life of a deaf person. After that, someone from the back blew the whistle, stood up and shouted “I AM PROUD TO BE A BENILDEAN!” everyone was shocked. Then another girl did the same thing, and another, and another and then Mark (remember mark? The cutie who sat beside me?) he stood up and did the same thing. They all ran around the place and went up on stage and did a skit on their core values. I. WAS. SHOCKED. I JUST HELD HANDS WITH AN UPPERCLASSMEN. A HOT UPPERCLASSMEN. Smooth move, Jan. Really smooth. So they were basically pretending to be a Frosh, complete with the name tags and everything.

So they did a skit. Okaay, a great skit. A really hilarious skit. They can turn one simple sentence into any joke. That’s how great it was! I just stared at Mark, my face still in disbelief. KILL. ME. NOW.

After they did the skit, there was a fashion show on the what-not-to-wear in Benilde. Their way of telling us what the dress code is. Then a few more videos and then these 3 hotties went up on stage.

Meet Charlie, Matt and David. They’re actually from Cebu and Bohol. Believe it or not, CEBU HAS A BRITISH HOTTIE LIVING AROUND THE CITY, CHARLIE! Charlie looks like Louis from One Direction. Well, they all look like the One Direction but only way hotter. More buff and sexy. <3 Charlie’s accent was heaven! “Hi, I’m Chawley” I swear, I could feel the girls and the feeling girls melting away. BWAHAHA SORRY GUYS. This is our eye candy. :D

After everything, they led us into the classroom by block, discussed stuff, talked about random stuff, made me sing which was pretty embarrassing. Wanna know why they made me sing? I was actually asking our “mommy” (upperclassmen facilitator) about when the auditions for Coro San Benildo, the resident chorale group in Benilde. She asked me if I could sing well and I nodded and she made me do a sample for her cause if I wont sing, then I wont get the answer I wanted. So she called up Block 1 and was like “HEY BABIES! DO YOU WANNA HEAR HER SING?” And everyone went all “SAMPLE! SAMPLE! GO JAN!” and I hesitated for a while but I gave in so I sang and everyone’s faces were shocked. I dunno what I did or something but they were shocked, eyes wide open, smiles everywhere. And they wanted another one but I didn’t go for it anymore. So our mommy told me that she wil refer me to her friend inside the Coro. When people refer you to someone INSIDE the org, it’s easier for you to get in. WOHOO!

We went out of the classroom after the show I did (char) and went to see the pep squad.

They taught us cheers like “Rektikano” which they use in games and other cheers. Then there was this mechanical bull, photo booths and a velcro wall. I guess you guys know how that works already so no need to explain. It was like a mini-fair complete with free food! And here are some of my block mates :)

*blows whistle* I’m proud to be a Benildean! LEGGO BATCH 113!

image

We don’t say “Batch 2013-2014” anymore, we say “Batch 113” cause it’s the first 3 digits of our ID number. Next year will be a new batch and it will be called “Bacth 114” And that’s how it works in La Salle. Just like how they call Freshmen “The Frosh” :)

ANIMO BENILDE

This is actually an overdue post, but better late than never, right? So here’s what my friends did to me on my birthday!

Jake gave me a blindfold, blasted music to by ears and made me hold a paper with “IT’S MY BIRTHDAY :D” written on it as we walked out of Ayala and into the taxi stand. They made me go inside a car, which I thought was mine but when I felt the seat and touched the lock, it was a different car so I screamed “KIDNAP!” and laughed, not knowing that it actually echoed and they told me people stared. Well, I didn’t know! I had headphones on!

History repeating itself.. TIONG SISTERS KIDNAP. :O

image

image

Imagine the boredom I was going through while in the taxi. I couldn’t talk to anyone cause Jake blasted the music so loud so I couldn’t hear them so I just imagined where I was because we went through the same route to my house. That oh-too familiar road to my house. I knew the bumps, the turns and everything so even when I’m blindfolded, I knew where I was. CHAR! I feel like I’m in a Taken 2 movie. COOL. Hahaha!

And from there, they led me into the house and found letters and pictures everywhere that led me up to my room and found balloons and a cake on my bed with by best friend’s letter beside it! Sweetest thing ever! After the whole day, some of them stayed and we watched The Possession. <3

In a few days from now, I will be leaving behind my home, my friends and the places that holds so much memories. I’ll be flying off to a new place to make new memories, new friends and a new home. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be nostalgic about all this in a few months, but I’ll get used to it.

But I’m not leaving without saying good bye, or at least “See you soon”. I hung out with the most amazing people today, we met up at Starbucks (my usual waiting spot in Ayala) with Eunice and Elsie and I was surprised to see them wear almost the same outfit with a bright top tucked in their white shorts. We talked about college which escalated into different topics. After a few short while, we took off to see Vilma, happily talking about how she’s out of the house and wearing shorts. She’s never really been going out of the house. Strict parents = House arrest 24/7. I’m just so so glad she made it today! :)

We went to eat and eat and eat! I even came back to Chocolatier for their fondue! <3 We ate and talk and went out to go shop for Mother’s Day stuff. After finishing, Chinno took me to his friends, introduced me to them and led me to my car.

Happy day is happy. :)

See you soon, CEBU! :)

And this fact scares me.

It’s good to be back both in tumblr and in Cebu! Just got back from Manila last night but I’ll be flying back there in a few days for my orientation and my class starts early.

So how’s everyone? I apologize for not upadting anymore. My senior year had been such a pain in the ass and I’ve been too busy to blog about my activities. Here’s what you missed:

  • We won FIRST PLACE in Quartet Singing Competition
  • I went to Bohol with the entire batch
  • POOL TIME WAS ICE COLD.
  • We had a class sleepover in Talavera and the CITY VIEW was perf!
  • I kept myself busy and distracted during grad practice by teaching the batch our songs.
  • I FINALLY GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL!
  • Graduation Ball in Marco Polo was a night to remember <3
  • Sleepover with the best people at Marco Polo after the party
  • Pool time, tan time, summer time!
  • Movie night outs <3
  • My friends threw me a very embarrassing and fun birthday surprise in Ayala
  • Birthday dinner
  • My parents’ BONGANG BONGANG Silver Wedding
  • Night out with the Quadro (Krystelle, Noelle and Bonts) and went home in the morning already cause I took them all home.
  • Went to Manila for the enrollment
  • Officially a La Sallian-Benildean!
  • AND NOW I AM HERE IN CEBU!

I have been craving for some sweets for weeks and I finally had the chance to pay Chocolatier a visit. I actually knew about this place when my brother took me to a Chocolatier somewhere in Manila one night and made me munch on their oh-so delicious Ferrero cake. When I came back to Cebu, I found Maitre Chocolatier and craved for it but never got the chance to fit some sugar time in my busy sched. I can’t been years since I last ate here plus I had the best company which makes this day two times better! Good thing they called me up for a hangout! I hope you guys enjoyed your FREE SUGAR cause I’ll treat you guys again when I come back soon!  :)

Next up is Saturday with my barkada! <3
